Rental Waiver

Rider Responsibilities

I understand that riding an e-bike carries risks. I agree to ride safely, follow NZ road rules, wear a helmet at all times, and operate the bike with care.

Condition of the Bike

I confirm the bike and accessories have been supplied in safe working order. I will tell Waiheke Cycles immediately if something feels unsafe or stops working.

Proper Use

I agree not to:

  • Ride on beaches, through seawater, rivers, or deep puddles

  • Ride off-road on rough tracks, down stairs, or in reckless ways

  • Tamper with speed settings, batteries, or electronics

  • Carry passengers (unless the bike is designed for it)

  • Perform skids, drifting, brake-locking, or any deliberate actions that cause excessive abnormal wear to the bike

Excessive sand, dirt, or water may incur cleaning/repair fees. Tyres damaged by skids must be replaced at the renter’s cost.

Damage, Loss & Fees

I accept responsibility for:

  • Damage caused by misuse, crashes, or negligence

  • Loss or theft of the bike or accessories

  • Water damage, electronic damage, or sand contamination

  • Flat tyres caused by misuse (e.g., curbs, skids, off-road riding)

Normal wear and tear is on us,
If the bike is lost, stolen, or returned unsafe, I agree to cover repair or replacement at fair market value.

Battery Care

I understand battery range varies with hills, rider weight, and assist level. I will follow charging instructions and keep the bike/battery out of extreme heat.

Late Returns

Late returns may incur additional charges. I will notify Waiheke Cycles if I am delayed.

Personal Liability

I accept that riding is at my own risk. Waiheke Cycles is not responsible for injury, damage, or loss to myself, my property, or others arising from my use of the bike.

Road Rules & Alcohol

I will follow NZ road rules and will not ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Security

I am responsible for locking the bike with the lock provided. Bikes must not be left unsecured or unattended overnight unless safely stored.

Cancellations / Refunds

I understand that cancellations and weather changes follow Waiheke Cycles’ terms and conditions.
