    The only extra offered is in-house insurance against damage, offered at very reasonable rates.

  • Yes. Waiheke is hilly and some roads are narrow, but the roads are easy to navigate once you know what to expect. We give every rider a clear safety briefing and a test ride so you feel comfortable before heading out.

  • At Waiheke Cycles, a one-day e-bike rental is $100, which includes a fully serviced bike, a helmet, pannier bag, a phone holder, a safety briefing and a short test ride. We have reduced rates for groups and multi-day hires, so let us know your plans and we will put together the best price for you.

  • No licence is required. E-bikes are treated like standard bicycles as long as the motor is 300 watts or under, which all our bikes are.

  • Most riders get between 40 and 70 km depending on hills, wind and assist level. This is plenty for a full day exploring Onetangi, Oneroa, vineyards, and coastal viewpoints.

  • You can ride almost anywhere on the island, including to the beaches, vineyards and coastal roads. Popular routes include Onetangi Beach, Oneroa Village, Palm Beach and the coastal paths around Church Bay and Kennedy Point.

  • Contact us and we will help. In most cases, we come meet you and get you rolling again quickly. We take extra steps to set up the bikes so that you are much less likely to experience a flat tyre.

  • Yes. Our fleet is chosen for comfort and stability. We take the time to show you how everything works and give you a short test ride so you feel confident.

  • Our fleet is small but lovingly maintained. Every bike is tuned by a local mechanic who actually rides these roads, so you know you are getting something solid.

  • Yes. Helmets are included and required by law in New Zealand. We also include a durable waterproof pannier bag, lights, and a handlebar phone holder.

  • Most riders will not need to charge the bike during a normal day on Waiheke. Our batteries are chosen for local routes and day rides. Chargers are always provided for multi-day hires.

  • Yes. E-bikes do most of the hard work. You can choose how much assist you want, and we can recommend suitable routes to make sure the battery will cover your day. If you are unsure, just let us know and we will help you choose the right option.

  • Comfortable shoes, a reusable water bottle, sunscreen and a light jacket are handy. Most riders also bring a phone for photos and maps. Our bikes have a a pannier bag for your essentials.

  • Waiheke is beautiful all day. Mornings are usually calm with great views. Afternoons are warm around the vineyards and beaches. If you prefer quieter roads, late afternoon and the shoulder seasons are ideal.

  • Our e-bikes suit beginners, families, casual riders and anyone who wants a steady, comfortable way to explore the island. We can also recommend routes for more confident riders who want longer or quieter rides with great views.

  • Yes. Our e-bikes are chosen for comfort and stability. If you are nervous or feel out of practice, we will walk you through everything at your own pace. Most of our riders are visitors who simply want an easy, enjoyable way to explore Waiheke without worrying about the hills.

  • Waiheke gets busy, especially on weekends and during summer. Booking ahead guarantees we can hold the right bikes for your group. If you are travelling today or tomorrow, send an enquiry and we will try our best to fit you in.

  • If the weather looks unsafe, we will work with you to adjust your booking where possible. Light rain is usually fine, and we can suggest sheltered routes if needed. If the weather is deemed unsafe for you to ride by us, we will refund your booking or move it to another day that works for you, pending availability. Your safety is our top priority.

  • Our bikes fit most adults comfortably. If you have specific sizing questions, just let us know your height and we can match you to the right bike. Weight can affect battery range, but this usually only matters on very long routes. If you are unsure, we can suggest suitable rides so you have plenty of power for the day.

  • Our e-bikes are set up for adult riders. If you are travelling with children, let us know their age and weight and we can recommend the best options for your group.

  • We have a few different models, but we choose comfortable, reliable e-bikes that are well suited to Waiheke’s roads and hills. Every bike is fully serviced and checked before each ride so you can relax and enjoy the day.

  • Yes. We can deliver e-bikes to accommodation for groups and multi-day hires. Delivery is free or low-cost depending on location and the number of bikes. Let us know where you are staying and we can confirm the best option for your booking.

  • Most visitors spend anywhere from three to six hours exploring in a day, sometimes more over several days! Some ride to a vineyard for lunch, others make a full day of beaches and viewpoints. We can suggest route ideas based on how long you want to be out.
