Evan has been fixing bikes for more than fifteen years, but his story on Waiheke started in a white service van. He began with mobile repairs, meeting people at their homes, workplaces, and anywhere they got stuck. That steady, hands-on work built the trust and reputation that still guide him today. After building several workshops around the island, he launched Waiheke Cycles in 2023.

He trained in Toronto under expert mechanics and learned the standards expected in a busy, high performance service environment. As his skills grew he was promoted to manage a busy Service Department and later was trusted with building, training, and running new service departments as additional locations opened. Those years shaped his approach. Clean work. Precise tuning. Thoughtful diagnostics. A bike should feel noticeably better after a service.

Although he has a strong background in high-end road bikes, Evan works confidently with all types of bikes. Life on Waiheke brought new challenges and a deep focus on e-bikes. With the island’s steep terrain and growing number of electric commuters, he has become an expert in diagnosing and repairing modern e-bike systems. Every bike is welcome in his workshop.

Evan moved to New Zealand in 2018, visited Waiheke, and decided to stay. After eight years here he is part of the community he serves. He takes pride in careful workmanship, clear communication, and helping people feel safe and confident every time they ride, no matter what they ride.
